former Trojan All-American basketball player began his oil industry career in 1956 with the Union Oil Company.
In the early 1960's, Roy moved
his family to
Santa Maria, CA, where he became Regional Sales Manager for
the Douglas Oil Company; a
west coast refiner later acquired by Conoco.
In the 1970's,
Mr. Irvin became Vice President Wholesale
the Edgington Oil Company, an independent refiner in Long
Beach. In addition to his marketing role with Edgington, Roy
assumed the duties of General Manager of Edgington's
transportation division, Hercules Oil Company.
1978, Roy purchased a pre-owned petroleum transport with
"BTL" on the doors, changed the "B" to
an "I", and started the family business; ITL.
